This was my first ever christmas tag. Unfortunately I didn’t have this blog happening when I made it so there are no photos of the individual steps but it is all pretty self-explanatory.
First I stained a manilla tag with Pine Needles and Aged Mahogany Distress Stains and misted water over top to blend them. Then I inked over the tag with the matching Distress inks to give certain areas a more intense colour.
Next tattered the edges with an edge distressor and ran my gold VersaColor ink pad over them. Then I stamped the holly stamp from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Holiday Wishes cling mount set in the same gold ink all over the tag. On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the Happy Holidays from the set, embossed with gold embossing powder, ran Aged Mahogany Distress Stain over it and cut it out.
*Tip- I do not recommend using such a detailed stamp for this. Take my advise and by a nice chipboard one instead!
For the bauble I cut the smallest bauble of the Spellbinders Holiday Tags die out of plain cardstock. I then covered it with Tarnished Brass Distress Crackle Paint and waited for it to dry. Because I didn’t really like the finished colour, I covered it with Walnut Stain Distress Stain and brushed over Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls just to dull that really brassy tone.
The ribbon was made from staining cotton bias binding with Walnut Stain Distress Stain and rubbing in Heirloom Gold Perfect pearls. This was also done to ordinary cooking twine, but I also added Walnut Stain Distress Ink after the stain and pearls had dried to give a stronger colour. Then I threaded the ribbon through the top and attached the twine to the bauble and threaded that through the ribbon. Glue the bauble to the card and add a charm to the knot on the bauble with a jump ring to finish.
